The PhD and Master Programs in Pharmacology and Biochemistry (FARMABIO) of the Institute of Biological Sciences at UFPA was created in 2020, in the midst of the worst pandemic that modern times have ever seen, in order to contribute to a better future. Recognizing the high quality of the FARMABIO training, CAPES approved the Doctorate and Master Courses, which became the only Program in the entire northern region in the areas of Biochemistry and Pharmacology.
FARMABIO aims to train professionals who can be active actors in the transformation of the regional socioeconomic reality, with a multidisciplinary profile and capable of innovation and knowledge transfer to society. Our recent experience with the COVID-19 pandemic highlights the importance of training qualified professionals to study drugs and develop diagnostic markers. The FARMABIO has two major shaping axes that are (i) taking advantage of the unparalleled potential of natural resources and the ethnopharmacological knowledge of traditional communities, as well as the expansion of precision medicine through knowledge of the characteristics of the State of Pará population, and (ii) the support for the sustainable development of our State's economic activities (mainly mining and energy exploration) through innovative solutions that reduce the impact on the population of Pará.
We encourage all those interested to participate in this innovative training proposal, which is now provided by UFPA.
