FARMABIO publishes Resolution No. 01 of January 3, 2025, which establishes the Electoral Regulations for the purpose of nomination, by the university community, of candidates for the positions of Coordinator and Vice-Coordinator of the PPG FARMABIO of the Federal University of Pará, for the biennium 2025-2027. All professors, students and technical-administrative staff who meet the conditions established in the Electoral Regulations may participate in the vote.

FARMABIO announces the opening of Call No. 05/2024, which regulates applications to participate in the internal selection of students for the PhD Course for the CAPES Sandwich PhD Fellowship Program. Regularly enrolled students who have already remained in the Course for more than one year and/or have defended their Qualification may participate. Applications may be submitted until 6:00 p.m. on January 20, 2025. See the Call here.

On March 18, students and faculty from FARMABIO participated in the activity "II FARMABIO VAI NA PRAÇA" (2nd FARMABIO GOES TO THE SQUARE), where students interacted with the public at Praça Batista Campos, presenting and talking to the general public about materials (folders and banners) related to topics such as correct disposal of pharmaceuticals, mercury poisoning and obesity, among others. In this year's edition, the activity included three different phases that foresee the necessary moments of knowledge translation: a first phase, where students developed materials adapted for the target audience on the chosen topic under the coordination of Professor Gabriela Arrifano; a second phase, where students presented the topics and talked to the general public in a supervised manner; and a final phase, where students and faculty collectively exchanged experiences with an emphasis on learning how to adapt scientific knowledge so that it reaches society.

This activity offered annually by the FARMABIO aims to reinforce student training with experiences that give back to society, this training being an important part of the FARMABIO curriculum.

Bill 1011/2023, which establishes a National Policy for the Prevention of Exposure to Mercury, prepared by the team at the UFPA Pharmacology Laboratory in partnership with the Human Rights Clinics at UFPA, UFOPA, UEA and UNIFAP, received the sponsorship of Senator Randolfe Rodrigues on March 7, 2023 and was filed with the Senate.

This is an initiative that aims to establish the monitoring of mercury levels as a form of prevention before a diagnosis of mercury poisoning is made (as is already done in a similar way, for example, to prevent diabetes through routine blood glucose measurement). Another important difference is that it will allow existing data from Universities and Educational/Research Institutions to gain visibility and be used by public policy managers.

Come and be part of history by voting YES in the Senate's public consultation:
